# 230 - Approaching Storm, Tenaya Lake, Yosemite National Park, 2000
October
9, 2000 @ 1:00pm
This photograph was taken on my way home from a 4 day stay in Mammoth Lakes California. The location is along the western shore of Tenaya Lake along highway 120 in the eastern portion of Yosemite National Park near Tuolumne Meadows. The storm clouds you see here are the leading edge of the first storm of the fall/winter season. Less than five hours later the highway 120 and Tioga Pass road was closed due to significant snow fall on the road. I took numerous photographs of the lake in a time span of an hour while the clouds were rapidly changing in formation and this image had the best distribution of clouds in the sky and sunlight on the distant mountains. |
