During
a day trip to the high Sierra along Highway 88 at Carson Pass we had stopped
to photograph at the summit. It was a beautiful sunny January in 1991,
I had a 4x5 monorail camera on loan from the local community college as
well as an aluminum Bogen tripod. My friend was coaxed to carry the tripod
while I carried the awkward monorail. After a brief hike through the snow
we came across this image, I instantly liked the natural composition, the
contrast and strong grain detail in the logs. It all seemed to fall together
quite well. |
