It
was mid June 1991, the location is Happy Isles in eastern Yosemite Valley
along the Merced River. The sun had just gone behind the great mass of
Glacier Point and the sky had become slightly overcast. A 1/2 second exposure
rendered the white water just smooth enough to appear soft but not too
soft to loose the detail in the water splashing over the boulder in the
middle. This location along the Merced River has changed since I was there
in 1991. The large boulders you see on the other side have been paved over
with a cement pathway for wheelchair access. I could not believe the Park
Service would allow such a destruction of the natural environment. This
scene will never appear again as you see it above. |
